Car enthusiasts and car experts tested the 2010 production line of Ford Mustangs. They gave the American car a clean bill of health in terms of muscle performance on the track.

The muscle car will amaze any driver with its V8 4.6L engine that throttles the car with 315 horsepower. The power plant can be coupled with a choice of a 5-speed automatic or manual transmission that transfers all the power to the rear axle.

The Mustang engineers improved curve handling by getting the rear spring rate up by 25% in the GT. The dampers of the car were also fine tuned giving it smoother control of corners and curves.

What gets the spotlight on the Mustangs’ modifications is the option of getting TrackPack. For $1495, the set will give a car owner 255/240 Pirellis fitted into a 19-inch wheel. This becomes a potent package when combined with new brakepads, rear lower control arms, and antiroll bars.

The test drive with the TrackPack set up with all stability programs turned off proved to top the charts. Lateral grip in the new TrackPack equipped Mustangs is better at 0.93 from 0.9. The stopping distance is more effective at 10 feet and lower. Lap time during the road test was also 3 seconds faster than the average of 1:20.

The Mustang remains to be a muscle car and not a sports car. The great leap in performance is excellent to keep the Ford Mustang GT ahead of the pack. Company officials say that the public must watch out for what is to come on their 5th anniversary in 2014.

A great car is a great car. The Mercedes SLR fits the description and tuners have made the engine bay of this car their canvass. This just proves that the SLR etches its name on the important annals of the auto industry.

Florida-based tuner Renntech transformed an SLR and made it to the superlative of all the SLRs. It gave the car some boosting and gave its power plant a 777 horsepower output. The modification makes it more sinful and making most of the car’s lightweight design.

This version of the Mercedes SLR is aptly called the Renntech 777. It can easily zoom to its top speed of 210 mph with its 5.5L supercharged V8 engine revving like hell.

Renntech 777 is a heavily modified car. Aside from the engine tweaking, the suspension system of the car was redesigned. The driveline was also reconfigured. Control on high speed cornering is made possible by new differential system that makes full locking between the wheels.

It might sound like committing a capital sin when making a great car even greater. Renntech disclosed that they are just producing 20 of its kind to celebrate their 20th year in the business. Renntech promises more excitement as they make more extreme vehicles from other manufacturers.

Mercedes Benz displays the Sterling Moss version of the SLR at the Detroit Auto Show. This $1 million piece of automotive art is the last of the line before it fades away in the history books.

The SLR is the brainchild of the collaboration between Mercedes and McLaren. The project will end this year.

The new 503-hp XFR is now offiicially the fastest model in Jaguar’s line of cars after

race driver Paul Gentilozzi reached a record run of 225 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats last November.

The XFR was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show, sans the electronic speed-limiter and donning a tea-tray rear spoiler which was necessary to keep the rear wheels from lifting off the ground when Gentilozzi took the XFR for a spin and broke the 220-mph Jaguar record.

The Jaguar XFR’s 225 mph run broke the record previously held by the XJ220 launched in the early 90’s, which is named after its recorded speed of 220 mph.The XFR engine is also used in the new XKR coupe, which was also unveiled at the Detroit auto show. Both the XFR and XKR got upgrades in the chassis as well as body enhancements. While enthusiasts will immediately see the heavier chrome front grille on the XKR, they would have to look at the XFR closely to notice the lower stance and deeper front spoiler.

Among the major improvements in the XFR is its capacity to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, and 50 to 70 mph in a whopping 1.9 seconds. This feature makes the XFR a worthy competition for the Audi RS6, BMW M5, and the Bentley Flying Spur. The XFR also has the 5.0-liter V8, which the automaker describes as their “most technologically advanced petrol engine ever.”

The XKR and XFR cats are slated to be available in the US this Spring.
